This 1999 Thunderbird is the third car of three total built. It is Evening Black with a red interior. Currently this car sits in the Sarasota, Florida Classic Car Museum in care of Vintage Cars of Sarasota. It is for sale with an asking price of $195,000.
This Thunderbird was not DOT- or EPA-certified. It cannot be registered for highway use in the United States and was offered on a bill of sale only. From a strictly technical standpoint, this Thunderbird is not actually a Ford but is a Lincoln (according to the VIN). Its assembly plant is noted by position #11 in the VIN, the letter S, which is the Ford Research Center, a code formerly known as Allen Park assembly plant. In addition, while this car is referred to as a "2001" it is technically a 1999 model (the X in position #10) This Thunderbird will not show up in some other Registry rosters which do not offer 1999-2001 year choices. Also see RN 38459 and RN 40089. UPDATE Glen Hockenjos says this: I visited this car in the Vintage Motors of Sarasota showroom and further examined this piece of history. I took more photos of this car including at least one of its engine which shows the 3.9 liter Lincoln engine serial number to be: X9GE39DWCPC140382. The curator explained that this car has no working accessories etc. as it is only a concept car. This Thunderbird is governed at 15 mph and has only a 2 gallon fuel tank. More photos of this car can be viewed at www.vintagemotorsofsarasota.com. UPDATE January 2020 it was at Barrett-Jackson, Scottsdale, Arizona. (interior picture added)
