This 1960 Thunderbird was offered for sale by Robert Lade of Ohio in the March 1979 issue of Cars & Parts Magazine. It was described as needing a complete restoration. Its status as of 2012 is unknown. UPDATE October 8, 2012, Bob Lade contacted the Registry. + + + + + Additional information: Letters that Bob supplied indicate that this car was sold new by Shawsheen Ford in Andover, Massachusetts. The name of the original owner is not available, however a subsequent owner was Dorothy Slusher of Bristolville, Ohio who transferred to title to John W. Anthony of 143 Main Street in West Farmington, Ohio on 11/13/68. As of April, 1975 it was owned by Bill Fitts of New Castle, Pennsylvania. Bob says he sold this Thunderbird to a person in Bay Village, Ohio in 1979 and that he saw it a few years later; it had been fixed up. + + + + + The link shows RN 40966 alongside RN 41226 (which has been dismantled) in Bob's driveway in 1975. + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + UPDATE July 2016, Uarisk notified the Registry that he owns this Thunderbird. He says: I have owned my Squarebird since 1983. I bought it from my uncle who was the 2nd owner. It is a driver when it is functioning. It is a solid 10 footer, in other words it looks great from 10 feet but don't get any closer. I love my 'bird'. It will probably never leave the family as my sons are negotiating over who I should leave it to.
A beautiful white convertible. I believe it is a first day of production vehicle. I will update when I have access to the data plate, it is in for repair. I just got the top functioning again after about 5 years inoperative. I am getting ready to redo the interior and trunk soft goods. - - - - - - - - - - This car has been all over. I bought it from my uncle, who I thought was the second owner, he lived in Bay Village, OH. I drove the car to Corpus Christi, TX in 1985 when I was in training as a US Naval Aviator. Then to Pensacola and Jacksonville, FL, Baton Rouge, LA(1986 storage for 3 years while I served in the Pacific), Milton, FL(1989), Lakewood, OH(1992), Deatsville, AL(1998), Houston and now Royse City, TX(2015).
