Glen Hockenjos says: This 1957 Thunderbird was totalled in an accident sometime around 1962-64 and sent to a scrap yard in Elizabeth, New Jersey. It was purchased for its parts by my grandfather who then used its data plate to register his T-bird that did not have a plate, now registry #24773. ----- -----
This car was originally sold at Howard Height Inc. in Manasquan, New Jersey and had a scheduled build date of September 27, 1957. Its price was $3130.45 and had the minimal options available, as can be seen by viewing its dealer invoice. - - - - - In July of 2005 this T-bird was finally laid to rest when I corrected the VIN on Registry #24773, thus retiring this car's data plate for good. If my grandfather had known about the VIN location in the engine compartment this T-bird's numbers would not have lived on some 40+ years after its demise! -------- Today all that remains are the photos above. I have since sold the fenders, the porthole top is now on Registry #24773. At least one part of this T-bird will live on! - - - - - - click on the link below to see its invoice and data plate.
